- The UWFSC was formed in September 2004. The club quickly brought attention to itself by advertising in the commons daily. Within two weeks the club had more than 60 students inquiring about becoming members. This was a much bigger interest in surfing the Surf Clubs in the past. Everyone that was started failed due to low interest and organization. This interest was attributed Partly to the increase in size of the Surf industry.
With the interest growing fast, the club members realized its potential. Idea for events were tossed around and local bands asked for sponsors so they could have events on campus. Some members began to realize that other Florida universities had Surf Teams. So through 04-05 year the club began to plan its existence.
Now the club is entering its first Fall semester and has many events planned for its members. Events from excursions to the Costa Rican rainforests, to Surf trips to typhoon lagoon wave pool.
