Heal the Ocean of SB County got front cover in the News-Press for their protest for the 4th of July Fireworks display. Apparently, they sent a letter to the Mayor as well as the pyrotechnics company stating that the display of the fireworks over West Beach is a violation of the Clean Water Act.

To celebrate the first day of summer and International Surfing Day, Surfrider Foundation South Texas Chapter held our Second Annual Free Children's Surf Clinic on Saturday, June 21. It was an outstanding success again this year with 60 or more children getting the chance to hit the water with their own instructor and catch some waves. The as of late very flat Gulf of Mexico even cooperated by giving us one day of 1-2' surf which was perfect for the kiddies!
